The Japanese Language

The Japanese language (日本語) has its origin 2500 years ago.
During its development it's suffered a great influence from Chinese (中国語).

Nowadays it has around 140 millions speakers 120 in Japan (日本).
Its vocabulary is composed by original words and loanwords from tongues such as Chinese (中国語), Korean (韓国語) or English (英語).

Its writing is based on the use of 3 systems 2 syllabaries and characters: hiragana (ひらがな), katakana (カタカナ) and kanji (漢字).
Its basic sentence structure is: Subject + Object + Verb (SOV).
